Ryan Reynolds, the celebrated Deadpool actor, recently hinted how his sleepless nights as a father to four children sparked the idea for his new series, Bedtime Stories.
“On the day my fourth child arrived, so did the concept of a show designed to help everyone find sleep,” the 46-year-old actor amusingly announced on his Instagram this Thursday, June 15. He excitedly added, “I am eagerly awaiting your reactions to Bedtime Stories.”
Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, tied the knot in 2012 and are proud parents to their daughters James, 8, Inez, 6, and Betty, 3. In February, the couple discreetly introduced their fourth child to the world, keeping the baby’s name under wraps.
Apart from offering a glimpse into his family life, the Canadian star also unveiled the official trailer for his brand-new show on Thursday.
He soothingly said in the trailer, “What’s the best thing about stories? They remain with you, they become part of you. Now, let me share a bedtime story with you.”
In the trailer, Reynolds, also known for founding Aviation Gin, can be seen navigating a child’s bedroom, exploring a library, an empty kitchen, and a cozy sitting room with a crackling fireplace.
“Settle down, rest your weary bodies but remember, do not fall asleep just yet,” he cautioned viewers in the video, which included a scene of him sitting on a rooftop, gazing at the night sky.
The upcoming show, set to premiere on Tuesday, June 20, on Fubo and produced by Reynolds’ production company, Maximum Effort, is seemingly for both children and adults struggling with sleeplessness. The show’s tagline suggests its calming intent: “From an anxious mind. Comes a restful show.”
Interestingly, Reynolds’ sleep deprivation has proven useful amidst his demanding schedule. Back in April, he, along with Wrexham AFC co-owner Rob McElhenney, celebrated the team’s promotion to the English Football League for the first time in 15 years.
Even as celebrations ensued, Reynolds mentioned that he and the Gossip Girl star, 35, would be giving the Met Gala a miss, an event they usually grace. A few days before the May 1 event, the Just Friends actor expressed to Extra how elated he was about having four kids, and how he did not mind their newest addition affecting their social life. (Reynolds has been concurrently engrossed with Deadpool 3.)
Although the arrival of their fourth child has left the couple with little personal time, they have managed to entertain their followers with humorous exchanges on social media.
Reynolds posted a provocative picture of himself in a white tank top and khakis in May, lamenting, “Summer in New York makes me sorry for the way I treated winter in New York.”
The actress from The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, also the photographer of the image, approved and shared it on her Instagram Story, humorously adding sriracha and pepper emojis and a caption that read: “Caution: Extra Spicy.”
