In an unforeseen turn of events, Madonna found herself fighting a critical health crisis after contracting a bacterial infection that led to her admission in the ICU, subsequently putting a pause to her forthcoming tour.
Madonna’s manager, Guy Oseary, took to social media on Wednesday to share the news of her hospitalization. He also reassured fans by stating, “She’s on the mend, but is still receiving medical attention. We anticipate a full recovery.” According to an insider close to the pop icon, Madonna has since moved out of the ICU.
Following Guy’s statement, Page Six reported that Madonna was discovered in an unresponsive state over the previous weekend and was hurriedly taken to the hospital where she was intubated. However, this information is yet to be verified.
Notably, the “Material Girl” had earlier announced a global tour this January, which was scheduled to commence on July 15 in Vancouver. Owing to the recent health scare, the much-anticipated “Celebration” tour has been temporarily put on hold, according to her manager.
Madonna’s team has also confirmed that a fresh start date will be announced for the tour, and rescheduling of shows is in the pipeline. However, final details are still being worked out.
