The DC cosmos has officially welcomed its new Man of Steel. DC Studios disclosed on Tuesday that the stars of their new film, Superman: Legacy, will be David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan. This fresh live-action project will be under the auspices of James Gunn, who will shoulder both writing and directing responsibilities. Corenswet, noted for his roles in Pearl and The Politician, will step into the shoes of Clark Kent, aka Superman. Brosnahan, recognized for her roles in The Marvelous Ms. Maisel and House of Cards, will portray Lois Lane. Earlier, Corenswet and Brosnahan had been speculated to be top picks for these roles, with Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney also considered for Superman, and Emma Mackey and Phoebe Dyvenor rumored for Lois Lane. Gunn verified the final casting choices via Twitter, responding with, “Accurate! (They are not only both outstanding actors, but also amazing individuals).”
Gunn further detailed the casting process during a recent conversation on the podcast Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, “Post numerous auditions, we’re now closing in on our choices,” said Gunn. “There’s a flurry of rumors surrounding who we’re screen testing, but not all of them are accurate. Some are completely erroneous. However, I can’t just dismiss every inaccurate statement without examining each one. At this juncture, I don’t believe it’s anyone’s concern who’s screen testing for a role. It’s an intimate matter. Of course, journalists have to perform their roles, trying to attract attention. They gather certain truths from agencies, and also other inflated information due to agencies promoting their clients. It becomes a bit messy and it’s challenging for those actors who are rumored to be testing when they’re not, and perhaps distressing for those who are.”
Accurate! (They are not only both incredible actors, but also wonderful people). https://t.co/1FtwYIDeYj

What is the premise of Superman: Legacy? As per DC Studios, Superman: Legacy illustrates the tale of Superman’s struggle to reconcile his Kryptonian lineage with his terrestrial upbringing as Clark Kent from Smallville, Kansas. He personifies truth, justice, and the American spirit, influenced by human benevolence in a world that views such virtues as outmoded.
What’s next in the DC Universe pipeline? The forthcoming DC Studios lineup, referred to as “Gods and Monsters,” has been revealed by Gunn and Peter Safran, his co-CEO at DC Studios. This roster will feature movies like Superman: Legacy, The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Swamp Thing, and The Authority. It will also span HBO Max television shows Waller, Booster Gold, Lanterns, Paradise Lost, and an animated Creature Commandos series.
“We are privileged to be custodians of these cherished DC characters from our childhood,” said Gunn and Safran in an earlier statement. “We aspire to collaborate with the global cream of writers, directors, and actors to weave an interconnected, multi-layered universe while ensuring artistic individuality. Our dedication to Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Harley Quinn, and the rest of the DC cadre is as profound as our commitment to the wondrous potential of humanity they symbolize. We’re thrilled to rejuvenate the cinematic experience globally as we narrate some of the most impactful, aesthetic, and grand narratives ever conceived.”
