Stranger Things is gearing up for its grand finale with a striking addition to its star-studded cast.
Acclaimed for her role as Sarah Connor in the iconic Terminator series, Linda Hamilton, is set to grace the screen in Season 5 of Stranger Things. The official announcement was made in today’s Tudum livestream.
This is indeed a significant move for Stranger Things, which has successfully brought on board major 80s celebrities in the past. Notably, Winona Ryder who plays Joyce Byers, is part of the main cast. Other celebrated actors who have graced the show include Matthew Modine of Full Metal Jacket fame, Robert Englund known as Freddy Krueger, Sean Astin from The Goonies, Cary Elwes of The Princess Bride fame, and Paul Reiser from Mad About You.

With Stranger Things inching closer to the ‘90s setting, casting Hamilton, who emerged as a true action heroine in James Cameron’s 1991 epic Terminator 2: Judgment Day, is fitting. In light of the massive confrontation with Vecna set up in Season 4’s climax, the Hawkins team will undoubtedly need an added boost of strength.
Stranger Things’ stint at Tudum was dominated by the announcement of Hamilton’s casting, as no Season 5 clips were available for display. Despite original plans to commence production this month, the showrunners, Matt and Ross Duffer, better known as the Duffer Brothers, confirmed in May that the strike by writers had postponed filming.
Hamilton’s addition to the cast is the most notable news we’ve received regarding the fifth and concluding season of Stranger Things. The Duffer Brothers had previously described Season 5 as a “culmination of all seasons,” incorporating elements from previous seasons and revealed the title of its inaugural episode.
